CoffeeCoffee is one of the most widely consumed beverages in the world, prepared from the roasted seeds / beans of a coffee plant. The coffee plant was first cultivated in Ethiopia in the 9th century A.D but is today cultivated worldwide in many tropical areas. Coffee is a major source of caffeine, which acts as stimulant.
Most coffee sold in shops and groceries is in the form of coffee beans or coffee powder produced by grinding the coffee beans. In one of the oldest methods of producing coffee, the coffee is brewed by adding the coffee powder to water and boiling it. A very strong coffee is produced with a layer of foam. In a percolator or coffee maker , the hot or boiling water passes over the ground coffee, absorbing the flavor, oil and essences.
Instant coffee is popular among students and people who do not have the time to prepare their own coffee. The coffee is dried into soluble powder or freeze dried granules, which can be directly added to milk. It is usually more expensive compared to ground coffee beans.
